There is no denying the potency of essential oils. It’s important that you take the time to learn how to use them safely. We will go through this together during your Wellness Consult as I want you to feel confident when you use and share your oils.

I highly suggest you purchase these two reference books: Modern Essentials and The Essential Life . There is also a Modern Essentials app that you can purchase via iTunes or Google Play.

Safety guidelines when using essential oils :

1. Be sure to use only 100% pure therapeutic-grade essential oils and follow all label warnings and instructions. The labels will say if an oil is safe to injest or is for topical use only.

2. If redness or irritation occurs when using essential oils topically, apply a vegetable oil such as fractionated coconut oil or olive oil to the affected area. Do not use water!

3. Essential oils should never be used in the eyes or inside the ear canal. In the event of accidental contact with the eye, dilute with vegetable oil or fractionated coconut oil NOT water.

4. Do NOT consume an essential oil internally unless labeled with a Supplement Facts box with specific dietary supplement use instructions and warnings.

5. Discontinue the use of an essential oil if you experience severe skin, stomach or respiratory irritation or discomfort.

6. I always dilute the oils on my children. By applying a small, diluted amount of oil you can test for any sensitivity. Do not use oil on a child’s hand as they may transfer to their eyes or mouth.

7. Consult your physician before using essential oils if you are pregnant or under doctor’s care.

8. Less is more when it comes to using oils! Always start with a small amount. It’s better to use a small amount frequently, so 1-2 drops every 4-6 hours rather than 4 drops daily.

If you’re unsure about something – always ask!
