Welcome! My name is Jill and I am so excited to share doTERRA essential oils with you. I am married and we have two young children who keep me on my toes! I have a degree in Health Science and as well as my Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. Prior to having children I was an elite gymnast, so health and exercise have always been a large part of my life.

My interest in essential oils began after I started searching for ways to naturally clean our house. I’ve always had terrible allergies which meant that anytime I tried to clean I’d end up in a sneezing fit, and I didn’t feel comfortable using such harsh chemicals around my baby. I also loved the idea of using essential oils in my cooking. No more having to buy a whole bunch of basil for a recipe only to use half and have to throw away the rest because it went off!

I’d only ever seen cheap and poor quality oils, so the first time I experienced doTERRA I was blown away by the quality. I love that I can support my family’s health and wellbeing in a natural way. I created ‘Lavender & Friends’ to provide essential oil education and inspiration, and I’d love to help you on your path to better and more natural health!

Welcome! I’m Will. Jill’s Husband and co-owner of Lavender & Friends.

A little over 2 years ago, Jill raised concerns to me over the amount of synthetic chemicals we were using around the house. Particularly in the kitchen and cleaning the kids high-chairs, etc. She had seen a workshop advertised online about using natural solutions for cleaning using Essential Oils. Honestly, I thought at the time it was a load of nonsense and was probably going to result in us all getting sick from things not being cleaned “properly”. I distinctly recall being concerned Jill was going to turn in to one of these people that refuses to take the kids to the doctor when they’re sick, etc. But at the same time, I understood it was important to her, so I was happy be supportive within reason and give it a go.

Fast forward a few weeks and we both noticed an immediate improvement in our general health and well-being. At first, we noticed that we were all sleeping better, had more energy and less allergies, sneezing, itchy eyes, etc. Then over the course of the following months, we noticed a decrease in the amount of sickness we all experienced. Coincidence? Maybe… But Jill and I both decided this was worth checking out in more detail.

We began investigating some of the other uses of Essential Oils and it was at this point that our lives pretty much transformed.

At the time, our son, Benny was only a few months old and was having some respiratory issues at night. On top of that we were still having a lot of issues with our daughter Lizzy not being able to make it through a 40-minute sleep cycle without waking up screaming thanks to her hyper-active little mind. I was also under a lot of stress having just lost my job.

We began using Essential Oils to help with Benny’s respiratory problems and saw an immediate and undeniable improvement, with less sniffles and as a result, less sleep interruptions.

At the same time, we began diffusing calming oils in Lizzy’s bedroom to aid with relaxation, reducing mind chatter, promoting a deeper sleep, etc. Again, we saw an immediate and undeniable improvement.

It was at this point that I thought, WOW, there’s really something in this and began looking in to using Essential Oils to help manage my anxiety. Anxiety has been a huge struggle for me throughout my entire life. Anxiety is a lot more than just feeling scared on occasion. It affects every area of your life from work to relationships with friends, family, wife, kids, etc. It makes day to day life things that “normal people” take for granted not only stressful but physically draining.

I had been on heavy anti-anxiety medication on and off since I was 13, but felt like I was a zombie on the medication and had a tenancy to lose sight of who I was. Is this the drugs talking or is this really who I am, etc.

I decided to give Essential Oils a go, and long story short, within a few months I was off my anti-anxiety medication and have been now for over 2 years. Do I still suffer from anxiety, absolutely. But for me, the Essential Oils do a better job of taking the edge off than medication did, and without any of the side effects I previously struggled with. Life changing stuff!

So fast forward again to the start of 2017. Jill and I decided we didn’t want to keep this to ourselves. When you find something that has such a positive impact on your life, it’s only natural to want to share it with others. So we began our business, Lavender & Friends, aimed at educating people and raising awareness of the amazing power of Essential oils. Certainly not something I ever imagined I’d be doing!

Over the course of the last 2 years, we have built the business up to the point where it now generates more income than she earned in her pre-kids full time job. This means she has been able to be a stay at home mum for our kids and I have been able to continue to work from home 4 days a week. It’s also freed me up to pursue other interests and hobbies. But far and away the best aspect has been the feeling of satisfaction we both get from knowing are doing something that has a positive impact on the world and genuinely helps people lead happier and healthier lives every day. Something I’m very proud of.

Are we hippies? Absolutely not. We still vaccinate our kids. We still go to the doctor if we get sick. I still wear shoes and a NASA shirt and mess around with cars and computers at every possible opportunity. But at the same time, we’re empowered with a set of tools that we can use to lead happier and healthier lives from day to day, without all the horrible chemicals that we previously didn’t think twice about having around the house or ingesting into our bodies.

My role here at Lavender & Friends is pretty diverse. I do all the IT related stuff such as web and graphic design, look after all the IT systems, edit all the videos, basically look after all the stuff that Jill doesn’t have time to do in her role as the face of the business. That said however I do love getting out there and sharing my stories and experiences at every opportunity.

My favorite thing about Lavender & Friends? Gosh, where do I start? Having worked in so many different industries over the last 2 decades, I just love being able to go to bed at night knowing that not only am I providing for my family, but what I’m doing is having a positive impact on people’s lives and changing the world for the better.
